About Me
Hi,
Thankyou for taking the time to browse my website and I hope you find what you looking for.

1977 saw the beginning of my career when I started a 5 year Master Masons apprenticship covering all aspects of masonry but it was working with stone that gave me greatest pleasure . Since those early days i've worked on some of Englands finest buildings including Roman and Medieval. I was also an approved contractor for both  English Heritage and the National Trust.

In 1999 following our move to Australia I worked as a bricklayer for a few years until 2005 when I found my way back into Heritage thanks to a freind who asked me to restore their Heritage property. this re-ignited the spark and passion that I have for working with character properties. Since then I have been lucky enough to work on some of Austarlia's  finest Heritage buildings including His majesty's Theatre, Fremantle Prison, Penshurst house, The old Post office Albany, Vancouver Arts Centre and The traditional Chinese Cemeteries of Christmas Island to name a few.
Kind Regards
Nick
Testimonials
  1. Tim Brien
Nick was the main contractor for a large contemporary extension to our heritage listed home in East Fremantle. The work required a huge amount of care when dealing with the original fabric of the property and also incorporated using modern building materials. For the whole project we were able to remain living as a family in the property with minimal disruption to our day to day living. A lot of this was down to Nick's ability to work alongside us as a family and find solutions to every issue that arose along the way. Nick comes highly recommended by ourselves for any project, large or small. The quality of his work, reliability, honesty and ability to communicate clearly made our building experience very smooth.

This Testimonial is provided in support of STONECRAFT MASONRY SOLUTIONS in regard to the restoration and conservation work undertaken by its Principal, Mr Nick Lukacs for the Shire of Christmas Island. This involved several stages and travel to Christmas Island from 2012 to 2016 to undertake the project and Stonecraft proved more than professionally capable of providing these services. Maintenance of heritage sites is a specialised field with few reaching the level of workmanship capable of being trusted with the nation’s treasures. Christmas Island has been fortunate enough to be able to engage the services of Mr Nick Lukacs and his team who demonstrated they are highly qualified building conservationists to undertake the required restoration conservations work. In particular the project’s most innovative aspect was to preserve the unique cultural features of the Islamic cemetery and the Island’s two rare examples of traditional Chinese cemeteries, laid out according to the feng-shui principles. The thorough understanding of these principles by Stonecraft in the restoration and preservation process ensured that the work conserved the cultural value of the cemeteries. As a result of the restoration and conservation project at the Christmas Island cemeteries, the Shire of Christmas Island has been awarded the prestigious ‘Peter MacLean Award’ by the Cemetery and Crematoria Association WA (CCAWA) for its submission to the Association regarding the Christmas Island Cemeteries Restoration Project. The success of the project and winning the Award can be jointly attributed to the professional and accurate work completed by Stonecraft in the restoration process. I have no hesitation in further elaborating on the above or any other queries regarding the matter and can be contacted directly on 0429210640. Thank you. Yours sincerely K J Matthews Chief Executive Officer

Lee and I have been meaning to let you know how happy we are with the results that you archived in repairing our wall. Considering that before we found you, it looked like we were going to have to demolish the disaster that we were left with by a previous contractor. Well you can attest to the disaster left to us by that company and the amount of work put in by you to rectify the damage left by them. We are truly grateful with the effort put in by you and only wished that we had found you from the start. We have also had positive feedback on the front wall that you did for us. Anybody looking to have limestone work done need look no further as far as Lee and I concerned and will continue to Highly recommend you and the great work you do. Kindest regards Jeff and Lee - Spearwood
